Tim Russell: Engineer

Tim started his engineering career as a teaboy at the legendary TRIDENT STUDIOS in the heart of SOHO, in 1986. Progressing through AUDIO ONE STUDIOS, CHRYSALIS STUDIOS and on to MARCUS RECORDING STUDIOS, Tim eventually went free-lance in the late 1990s. In 2002, he founded ICE-PR Ltd with Jason Price and they built the FUNKY BUNKER STUDIOS in NOTTING HILL.

The mid 1980's was an interesting time in the recording world and Tim started at a time when the concept of a computer being the main-stay of a recording studio was pure fantasy. Sessions then were still about musicians and live recordings, but little did they know, that was all about to change!

Entering into a world of samples, remixes and programming, Tim found himself at the forefront of a new musical wave of creative experimentalism. From some of the earliest "dance" tracks (assisting on M.A.R.R.S. groundbreaking, sample laden dance anthem: ‘Pump Up The Volume') to the seminal ambient works of the ORB's first album: ‘Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld', Tim was there.

Chart success came in other forms too: Mixes for the likes of the BRAND NEW HEAVIES: ‘Midnight at the Oasis', ‘Spend Some Time' and ‘You've got a Friend' with Ian Green, N-TRANCE with the club classic ‘Set You Free' and MN8's ‘I've got a Little Something for You'.
His original passion for rock was never far away as is shown with his work on ASH's debut album ‘Trailer', the ELECTRIC BOYSFreewheeling' album and most recently PIRATE CASINO and the album ‘What You Came Here For'.

Though more involved in the production side of things these days, Tim still enjoys engineering and mixing (anything to broaden his already wide musical taste) and can frequently be found engineering sessions at the Funky Bunker Studios, his present base.
