At the age of 14 Shaumayne Scantlebury started developing his musical ear selling records to top London DJ's at Catch a Groove (now Release the Groove). Shaumayne then landed a job at the Beat Dis Studios at the Tabernacle, learning the skills of a sound engineer, using Pro Tools and Logic.
Freelancing for Ice PR Ltd, in turn led to DJ-ing himself (under the alias of 'Phuture Funk'), spinning House tunes at the Light Bar, The Cross, AKA, Halo, Egg and a monthly residency at the Mau Mau, working with people like KCC.
Phuture Funk's first offering is the Housey E.P. "Hold Your Head Up", which showcases the vocal talents of Michael Sinclair on the title track "Hold Your Head Up", Natasha Drum on "Too Deep" and Ijahwali Thomspon on "Now The Love". With a stomping remix from Loud Minority, this promises to be one humdinger of a debut!
The "Hold Your Head Up" E.P. is now available for digital download exclusively at this site.
