Michael Oliviere, singer/songwriter born in Trinidad and founder of the ‘20th Century Steel Band'. He's co-written songs with numerous people including: Jennifer Lopez ("Jenny from the Block"), Jungle Brothers ("True Blue"), Black Eyed Peas ("Say Goodbye") and LL CooJ ("Whatcha Want feat. Freeway"), Soul ll Soul ("Dance" from The Soul ll Soul Club Classics album). Sync-licences have included Blue Streak and the Scarface game made by Vivendi Universal Games for Sony Playstation and XBox Platforms.

In 1974, aged 24, Michael Oliviere came to London with ambitions of setting up a steel pan band, with all the aspirations that a young musician has in tow! He created a buzz with his unique sound and was discovered by Derek Sheldon. A friendship ensued and Michael began to confide in Derek about his aspirations of forming a steel pan band, and that he already had the other members ready to join. Derek promptly appointed himself as Band Manager and Michael formed the ‘20th Century Steel Band.'

They toured the 'Baileys Circuit' as a working band and extensively travelled through Europe performing to sell out houses. In August 1975, Derek Sheldon, his wife, Ann Sheldon, Alan David and Michael D Gilbert formed a publishing company and encouraged them to record an album. The album, recorded in 1976 was called ‘Warm Heart, Cold Steel' which included three tracks of which Michael was the sole composer, one of which was the now immortal "Heaven and Hell is on Earth". The second album was recorded and released in 1978 and was called ‘Yellow Bird Is Dead'. Despite the fact that 'world domination' wasn't quite achieved, the band continued their extensive touring for the next seven years, but in 1984, things started to slow down and the band eventually dissolved a year later.

The next twenty years were spent writing more songs and passing on his extensive expertise on the steel pans until a chance meeting in 2005. In April that year, Michael Oliviere met Jason Price from Ice-Pr Ltd and a fruitful partnership has ensued. This has meant that Michael has, since mid 2006, been working on a new album at the Funky Bunker Studios. Now it's ready!
