BIOGRAPHY

Gideon Rogers was born on the Caribbean island of St Kitts. His first musical influences came from the Church next door to his house, of which his aunt was a preacher. It was not long before Gideon realised that music was a fundamental element in his life.

While he moved to England with his brother as a young boy, music continued to play a predominant role in his life and he began writing his own songs at the tender age of ten. At the age of fourteen, Gideon Rogers began to learn the saxophone at school, and hung around with other budding musicians such as Eddie Grant.

By the time he was seventeen Gideon had become a drummer and a founder member of the "20th Century Steel Band", along with Michael Oliviere, signing to United Artists in the process. He wrote songs, recorded and toured with the "20th Century Steel Band" for ten years until its ultimate demise.

Gideon Rogers then went on to learn to play the rhythm guitar and formed his own band as a vehicle to play his own material. He recorded his first album titled 'Black Sun' in 1994 and has toured with his band and other artists all over Europe and the Caribbean.

Gideon latest offering on InnerCircleUniversal Recordings: "World Peace", presents a unique, versatile blend of calypso, funk and African 'Hi Life' rhythms fused with an infectious reggae beat, to create an explosive world music dance sound. Enjoy!
