Born in London, England to a Zambian mother and an American father, Natasha Drum discovered a passion for singing and acting at a very young age and preformed in leading roles in many of her schools productions. Her parents formally introduced her to music and drama at the age of 13 and she was eventually classically trained in opera. But her career in the business didn't start as a singer, but rather in as Assistant Manager to a UK R'n'B group Damage. Soon she was also singing as a backing vocalist for various artists in and around London.
Soon after, she moved to the United States to join an L.A. based Hip-Hop/Soul group called Tatu. During that time, she also ended up writing for Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis's Flyte Tyme whilst doing voice-overs for radio and TV commercials.
On her return to London, she wrote, recorded and released a deep house track with Swedish duo Touchdown Productions called "Space and Time", which charted at number 3 in the Swedish Underground Dance Charts. She has also been seen backing Craig David on TV shows in the U.K. such as GMTV, Top of the Pops, Disney Awards 2003, and TRL MTV. Natasha's "Shake Ur Booty" (released on the Gut Records label), seems to have bubbled up and is getting rotation on radio stations such as ‘1 Extra' and ‘XFM'.
In the mean time, Natasha Drum is continuing to write and record for her album with amongst others Specialist Moss, Madness 4 Real, Killa Kela and Fusion. Upcoming releases include ‘Alright feat. Brother Ben' on Fusion's album ‘The Greatest Show', and collaboration with fashion designer Wale Adeyami's compilation album ‘All Sewn Up'.
And as if that wasn't enough, Natasha Drum has also been working on tracks with the likes of Rick Smoove and Illington, the results of which have become a sizzling new E.P. called "Here", out now on InnerCircleUniversal Recordings Ltd!
